Civic Community
Because our projects have lasting importance to their communities, HDR provides leadership in many industry organizations, including:
- American Institute of Architecture
- American Correctional Association
- National Association of Court Management
- American Jails Association
- American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors
- International Association of Chief of Police
- National Sheriffs' Association
Currently, HDR professionals are shaping the future of civic architecture by chairing or actively participating in the following groups:
- AIA's Academy of Architecture for Justice (AAJ), a knowledge community within the American Institute of Architects (AIA) that promotes and fosters the exchange of information and knowledge between members, professional organizations and the public for high-quality planning, design, and delivery of justice architecture.
- AAJ's Sustainable Justice Committee, a subcommittee formed to promote and support sustainability in the planning, design and construction of law and justice facilities.
- ASHRAE Technical Committee TGJ6.9 Justice Facilities, a committee concerned with the application of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, life safety, energy conservation systems, privacy and security of justice facilities. These include all aspects of cells, jails, prisons, court houses, juvenile facilities, work release areas, crime and forensic laboratories, police stations, evidence storage areas and other ancillary areas.
- American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) International's Physical Security Council, an organization that promotes certification, education and training in the protection of assets, people and places through security assessment, planning, systems integration and management.
