Higgason Wins in National 40 Under 40 Competition

The editors of Building Design + Construction magazine have selected HDR’s Heidi Higgason from among some 261 nominees as a winner in their fifth annual “40 under 40” competition. Higgason is vice president and managing principal of HDR Architecture’s 135-person Dallas office. She also oversees the firm’s relatively new Lexington, Ky. office.

She began her HDR career in Omaha in 1999 after receiving a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she graduated first in her class. She moved to the firm’s Dallas office in 2006 when she was promoted to a vice president and also managing principal of that key office, the youngest person in HDR history to be named to that management position.

Building Design + Construction’s website says, “The 40 accomplished individuals… are some of the brightest stars in the AEC universe.”

The magazine also noted Higgason’s management oversight roles in two of HDR Architecture’s current largest domestic projects: the $1.27 billion Parkland Health & Hospital System’s replacement hospital in Dallas, and the $440 million Lackland Ambulatory Care Center at San Antonio Military Medical Center.
