The Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station will be located on a 10-acre greenfield site in a newly-developed residential area in Palm Desert. The station represents the third implementation of a prototype plan for Riverside County and will be the first county facility to incorporate “green” design standards in the area. Planned for completion in 2010, the design reflects and utilizes the desert environment by including climate-specific landscaping, photovoltaic panels, sunshades and highly reflective roofing material. The project is currently planned to achieve a minimum of a LEED Silver rating, with the possibility of obtaining Gold.
