HDR, in association with Populous, was commissioned to provide programming and pre-design services for a new downtown stadium to host the College World Series. The stadium will be configured with entrance plazas at each corner of the site, and the convenience of street-level ticket and administrative offices, team clubhouses facilities and access to back-of-house services for deliveries and services to the ballpark. The ballpark will incorporate a variety of green elements, and it also will be designed for a variety of community uses outside the baseball season. Featuring an open, 360-degree walk-around concourse and a large Fanfest area, the ballpark will also offer a retail area with views into the bullpen and field and practice facilities and administrative offices. TD Ameritrade Park Omaha is expected to open in 2011.
