An acute tertiary care teaching hospital, Kingston General Hospital is undergoing major additions/renovations to a number of units that will provide patients, families and staff with improved access, additional space and enhanced privacy. These improvements will also strengthen the hospital’s ability to recruit and retain leading healthcare professionals. Planning required careful development of decanting strategies that maintain the hospital’s full operations by relocating functions to new facilities, thus enabling older wings to be renovated.
