The Georgia Institute of Technology has instituted a research-based organizational structure to replace the traditional discipline-based departmental organization. Georgia Tech has developed a Biotechnology Campus to support these new project-based methodologies. With the construction of the Molecular Sciences and Engineering building, the transition from departmental to interdisciplinary research is complete: a symbolically sympathetic position from which to pursue this important new science. The award-winning building follows best practice standards of sustainable design as outlined in the United States Green Building Council.
