Identified by the U.S. Department of Energy as one of the “Facilities for the Future of Science,” NSLS-II will be a key tool for maintaining unsurpassed scientific capability within the DOE’s national laboratory system. The conventional facilities will provide the structures and systems necessary for operation of the accelerator and experimental beamlines, the heart of NSLS-II, enabling the world-leading beam performance objectives of the project mission. The design team worked closely with the scientific community to meet the specific technical challenges for optimum beamline stability.
