HDR completed the master plan for four new barracks buildings, conducted full design services for a new three-story barracks, and completed alterations on a multipurpose activity center at the Military Police Battalions Facilities Complex in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The new barracks contain 56 units, housing 112 personnel. Each building utilizes an expanded 1+1 bedroom module, consisting of two one-person combination living room/bedrooms, one bedroom, two personal closets, one shared kitchen and one shared washer/dryer. The project scope also includes a new tennis court, basketball court and 400 new parking spaces for the complex. Since the four new barracks will be built in four phases, the master plan calls for a highly livable, home-like residential neighborhood. The Phase One barracks creates a new entrance plaza to both the existing barracks as well as the new barracks. The exterior façade design and materials complement existing buildings to form a cohesive military residential campus.
