The headquarters was designed as a contemporary administrative campus that is a signature facility. HDR developed a three-phase master plan for the campus that serves over 2,000 agents and embodies a sense of community. A curved, tree-lined promenade is punctuated by the main administration buildings, forming the entry and a grand central courtyard beyond. At the courtyard perimeter, the extended roof overhangs allow exterior pedestrian circulation, shading occupants from the elements. With sunshades placed over windows, views are maximized while unwanted heat gain is minimized. Consequently, excessive reliance on cooling systems is reduced and daylight is bounced deeper into the building. The project was selected for inclusion in the Justice Facilities Review 2007.
