The team of Neumann/Smith, HDR Architecture and Syska Hennessy Group renovated the first five floors and a portion of the lower level of a historic General Services Administration (GSA) building. The renovation allowed the Department of Homeland Security, Citizenship and Immigration Services, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Customs and Border Patrol to consolidate operations into one government-owned building. The completed project accommodates thousands of visitors who visit daily while separating public traffic from employee functions. The art-infused, secure and sustainable building is a landmark in the Chicago area and a prime example of GSA’s commitment to excellence. The project earned LEED-CI certification.
