Our work at HDR CUH2A supports the breakthrough discoveries that enrich lives, but many of our experts further impact the world by donating their time to Design 4 Others (D4O), a philanthropic initiative contributing professional services for critical-need facilities in communities with limited resources. D4O designs complex projects for appropriate non-profit causes, including a clinic in Uganda for AIDS treatment and education and a chocolate factory in Ecuador to help encourage the local economy.

Recently, D4O formed a partnership with Abbott Laboratories and local architect Landplan-Icon to expedite the improvement of 23 regional diagnostic labs in Tanzania, Africa. These laboratories will support care and treatment in the battle against tuberculosis, AIDS and other diseases. The D4O team has completed four labs in Tanzania, with 19 more expected by 2010.
